History

Located in Duluth, Gas South Arena is home to many Atlanta teams across multiple leagues; the Atlanta Gladiators in the ECHL, the Georgia Swarm in the NLL, and the Atlanta Vibe in MLV. It also has the ability to become a concert venue, meaning that there's plenty of reasons you may want to stop by while you're in Atlanta; it also means that there is almost always something going on. After having seen both the Gladiators and the Swarm at Gas South, I can say that there's good seats around the bowl, and the team at Gas South does a good job of prioritizing the fan experience.

Atmosphere

Regardless of which game I was at, the fans are super engaged. The arena staff do a good job of helping that along with chants, but most of it is fan led. As someone who came in to the Georgia Swarm game not knowing much (and by much, I mean I knew nothing) about lacrosse, the fans around me were happy to answer my questions and bring me in on what was going on. There's also a merch store for every sports that plays there; a special shoutout to the 'women belong in sports' tote I was able to snag at the Swarm game.

Concessions

Concessions are one of the few downsides of Gas South - not because there aren't options, but because they are pricey. I heard a few families around me complaining about the prices, so I think especially if you're going with a group, go to one of the many great restaurants in the area instead. One highlight is that they serve beer and cider from some local spots, which I always appreciate.

Access

Gas South Arena, like most things in Atlanta, is both easy and hard to get to. Easy in the sense that there's a solid amount of parking and it's not far from the interstate, hard in that you have to deal with Atlanta traffic. Definitely give yourself plenty of time to get there, but once you do, parking is affordable and able to be bought day of.

Final Thoughts

I definitely recommend catching a game at Gas South - the teams that play here are members of leagues that don't get as much attention but have high caliber talent. And, as I learned at the Swarm game, knowing the sport happening is not a requirement; it's actually a really good way to start learning sports you may not know as well.
