History
Located in Daytona Beach, FL, Sliwa Stadium at Embry-Riddle is exactly what you want out of a D2 baseball stadium - good sight lines regardless of where you are, good shade, and palm trees in the outfield reminding you that you're along with Florida coast. Opened in the 2001 season, Sliwa Stadium (then University Ballpark) was a welcome change from having to travel to DeLand, FL for the Eagles.
Atmosphere
There's free parking and admission at Sliwa, making a game accessible to pop into as you pass through Daytona Beach. All seating is chairbacks, and the majority of the stands are in the shade which is great in the Florida heat. During a Friday day game, there was still pretty good fan support, especially since I went during Embry-Riddle's Spring Break.
Concessions
The concession stand is shared with the softball field next door, and it serves hot dogs, drinks, snacks, and beer. I also saw some folks bring in outside food, though, so definitely an option if you want something a little more substantial. There are plenty of options close to campus for fast food, too, making it easy access.
Access
There are plenty of hotels in Daytona Beach, and it's easy to get to Embry-Riddle from where it sits just off of I-295. The one thing to watch when planning your trip to is Spring Break season, as Daytona Beach is one of the most popular places in Florida and the South to spend Spring Break.
Final Thoughts
Embry-Riddle is a great D2 stadium along the heart of the Florida coast. With it sharing a complex with the softball field (where admission is also free), it's a perfect opportunity for a 2 game day. The shade boosts it over some other schools in Florida both at the D1 and D2 level, as late season Florida heat will at least have some shade with it.
