"How 'bout Them Trojans?" Troy Advances to Omaha For First Time

As we went into Game 2 of the Troy Super Regional, Troy was focused on one thing: history. With a new attendance record of 7,033 people in Riddle-Pace and in Doubles Alley behind them, all that stood in their way was Little Rock, desperate to force a Game 3. Troy would quickly take the lead in the first and not look back, ultimately taking a 7-2 win and advancing to Omaha for the first time in program history.

For the second game in a row, the Troy scoring would first come off the bat of native son Drew Nelson as a two out double in the first drove in two runs in the first. Little Rock would be forced to make a call to the bullpen early, bringing in Tag Andrews in the second to relieve Nic Bronzini, and Aaron Piasecki would drive in another run for Troy in the second on a sac fly. The scoring would continue for Troy in the third as a single by Steven Meier would drive in a run and force Little Rock to once again make an early call to the bullpen, bringing in Isaac Evaniew. After a third, Troy would lead Little Rock 4-0.

Little Rock would get on the board in the fourth, with Ty Rhoades hitting into a fielder's choice with bases loaded to bring in a run. Neither team would get runs across in the fifth and sixth, and after what has become a typical Houston Markham insane catch to end the sixth, we would move to the final third with Troy leading 4-1.

A Josh Pyne single would once again get Troy on the board in the seventh, bringing in Jabe Boroff. A Jerdy Lopez home run to left in the eighth would add some excitement for Little Rock, but a Blake Cavill single to center field would ultimately slam the door as Troy took the 7-2 win.
