History

Guaranteed Rate Field opened in 1991 as the home of the Chicago White Sox, replacing the old Comiskey Park. Located on Chicago’s South Side, it’s been the centerpiece of White Sox baseball for more than 30 years. It’s undergone renovations to modernize the seating, concourses, and amenities while keeping its classic South Side feel.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere at Guaranteed Rate Field is energetic, especially when the White Sox are playing well. Fans here are passionate, and big games can get loud in the stands. Even at games during the stretch, the park has a lively feel with families, longtime fans, and groups of friends all enjoying the game. The stadium’s design means no one feels far from the action, making it easy to feel connected to every pitch.

Concessions

Food at Guaranteed Rate Field is a mix of traditional ballpark favorites and Chicago classics. You’ll find hot dogs (including Chicago dogs), nachos, and popcorn alongside Italian beef sandwiches, deep-dish pizza slices, and local craft beers. There’s something for everyone, whether you want a quick snack or a hearty meal to enjoy during the game.

Access

Getting to Guaranteed Rate Field is pretty straightforward. It’s accessible by car with plenty of parking nearby, though traffic can get heavy before and after games. Public transportation is an option too, as the CTA Red Line’s Sox-35th station is just a short walk from the ballpark and is definitely my recommendation on how to get to Guaranteed Rate. Walking from nearby neighborhoods or taking a rideshare are also convenient ways to get to and from the stadium.
