Condron Ballpark - Florida
History
Opened in 2021, Condron Ballpark replaced McKethan Stadium (which had been the home of Florida baseball since 1988) as home of the Florida Gators. Featuring a large videoboard, additional seating options, and bringing it closer to the rest of the stadiums on campus, the change (especially post the Gators taking it all in 2017) was welcome from across the Gator faithful. Named after the largest donor to Gator Boosters in its history, Condron Ballpark falls in well with other parks across the SEC.
Atmosphere
Even for a midweek game, Florida fans did a good job of creating a home field advantage at Condron. All reserved seats are chairbacks, and there's a berm down both basepaths as well as a selection of seating in the outfield with large adirondack chairs and food trucks. There's a store in stadium with jerseys, t-shirts, hats, and various accessories. The 2017 National Championship trophy is on display in the concourse, which is one of the more public displays of a championship trophy I've seen on the road.
Concessions
In addition to ballpark favorites like nachos and hot dogs, Florida also features some fun picks like brisket nachos and key lime pie. Drink options are Coke products, and they have a selection of beer and seltzer available. Expect to pay SEC prices, though - I paid $12 for loaded fries.
Access
The University of Florida's campus is located just off of I-75, and there are plenty of hotels in Gainesville and the surrounding area. There is a parking lot adjacent to the field with free parking, as well as another lot with a free shuttle just down the road for those big SEC series.
Final Thoughts
Florida meets exactly what your expectations are for a P4 D1 baseball stadium - a large videoboard, comfortable accommodations, and little things like special concessions and the 2017 trophy on display that make you remember you're watching high quality SEC baseball.
