Lou Brock Sports Complex - Lindenwood University
History
Located in Saint Charles, MO, the Lou Brock Sports Complex has been home to Lindenwood baseball and softball since 2005. Since it opened, Lou Brock has hosted conference tournaments, multiple NAIA regionals, the NAIA National Championship opening round, and a 2015 NCAA D2 Super Regional. Named after legendary St. Louis Cardinal player Lou Brock, the field sits roughly 700 people. Lindenwood made the transition to NCAA D1 in 2022, becoming a member of the Ohio Vall
Atmosphere
Admission to Lindenwood baseball is free, and the seats are entirely bleachers. There were some people in lawn chairs, but the space for them was limited. Fans were somewhat engaged, but there was a solid amount of students there, which is especially good to see knowing I was there around finals. Really, my only complaint is the seating, as I could use the back support chair backs supply.
Concessions
There is one concession stand shared between the baseball and softball fields, which is something to keep in mind if softball happens to be playing at home right next door. They have all your ballpark favorites like hot dogs and candy, as well as hamburgers and bratwurst. They also have a good beer and seltzer selection, but a special shoutout goes to the Lindenwood Lager, a beer they’ve made in partnership with a local brewery in Saint Charles.
Access
Just northwest of St. Louis, it is pretty easy to get to Lou Brock. Parking is free, but is shared by a dorm, so keep that in mind for weeknight games. There are plenty of hotels in the greater St. Louis area, so if you’re in town for a vacation, it’s super easy to pop over to Saint Charles; even going from the east side of St. Louis to the west, it was only about a 40 minute drive from my hotel to Lindenwood.
Final Thoughts
While Lou Brock Sports Complex may not have all the bells and whistles, I am never going to complain too much about a free baseball game, especially not a D1 game. Especially if you’re coming to St. Louis for a Cardinals game and have a free night, making the drive up to Lindenwood is an affordable and easy way to fill a night of baseball.
