History

Opened in 1983 in Tallahassee, FL, Dick Howser Stadium has long been seen as one of the best college baseball stadiums in the country. Once in the stadium, it's easy to see why. It honors the history of Florida State baseball everywhere - in right field, there's a wall built up with banners boasting FSU's 25 major leaguers and 40+ conference championships, among other stats. Florida State has a long baseball history, and the stadium reflects that.

Atmosphere

Fans clearly love to come out and support the Seminoles. Reserved seating is all chairbacks, bleachers filling up the base lines for general admission, and all sections were relatively full for an early season weekend game. I will note that the GA sections aren't shaded, while for a 1pm first pitch, all of the first base line and most of the third base line was shaded in the reserved seats. By the end of the game, everyone in the stands was in the shade. For a late season game in sunny Florida, definitely something to keep in mind when deciding if GA or Reserved is right for you. Fans stayed the entire game, even when the Seminoles were up by 2 heading into the 9th.

Concessions

Florida State has your standard concessions fare, but I will note that they're pricey. I'm talking $8 for a souvenir soda pricey. There are some stands for local breweries set up, but I'd recommend going for food before or after the game to try to save some money.

Access

Campus is relatively easy to get to. From the north and east, you do have to drive through a bit of campus to get to the stadium, but it's an easy drive. Most parking is paid lots, but there's free parking in the circus lot (which is apparently a thing that FSU has, which I will be planning a trip to see) which is just outside the stadium. There are some hotels close, and Florida A&M is only 2 miles away, making it an easy weekend trip to do both or two in one day if the timing works.

Final Thoughts

Dick Howser Stadium is a gorgeous park, and clearly proud of their history. Fan engagement is at a high here, and it's a fun stop even if you know nothing about FSU baseball.
