History

Doug Kingsmore Stadium has been the home of Clemson baseball since it opened in 1970, and over the years it’s grown into one of the most respected college ballparks in the country. The stadium saw expansion in the 1990s and 2000s, increasing seating and making the fan experience that much better. Named after former Clemson athletic director Doug Kingsmore, the stadium has seen the Tigers through a lot of success, including regular NCAA tournament appearances, 13 MLB first round draft picks, and over 70 MLB draftees.

Atmosphere

Clemson has a great atmosphere, especially considering that this game started at 8pm. The softball field is right next door, and I saw a lot of fans head into Doug Kingsmore after the softball game ended to get a 2 for 1 kind of night. Fans stay engaged the entire game, and were also incredibly kind in every interaction I had with them. Even with plenty of capacity, all the seats feel close, giving it an intimate vibe.

Concessions

Clemson has all the concession you could want... with the price tag expected at a P4 school. In addition to the basics like hot dogs and soft drinks, they have plenty of beer and seltzer, as well as things like pizza and barbecue sandwiches. If you want to avoid the price tag that comes with these concessions, there are plenty of fast food options and local restaurants around Clemson.

Access

One downside to Clemson is that it's weird to get to. A bit of a drive off the interstate, it's not really... near anything. Once you make your way to Clemson, though, there are plenty of hotels in the area. Parking is also free for games, and there are plenty of spots both in the lot next door (though that was full with softball playing) and the lot closest to the football field just across the street. I got to the game a little late, and even on a busy weekend (football was playing their Spring game the next day) I had no issues finding a spot.

Final Thoughts

Doug Kingsmore is hyped as a great field for a reason. From plenty of seating and parking, to awesome sight lines (one of my favorite places I stumbled upon were tables with a direct view into the visitor dugout), it's an awesome place to catch a game.
