John Euliano Park - University of Central Florida (UCF)
History
Originally opened in 2001, John Euliano Park has gone through two renovations in 2011 and 2017. These additions include additional seating, deck seating in right field, and additional suites behind home plate. With 13 NCAA appearances and 6 conference tournament championships, UCF fills the lack of professional baseball in Orlando.
Atmosphere
With the weather unbeatable in the early season, it’s no surprise UCF fans packed the park. Fans stay engaged in the game, and even with UCF losing 9-4 heading into the bottom of the 9th, fans stayed and were able to watch the Knights take the 10-9 victory. There is a combination of chairman’s and bleacher seating, and for a day game, shade is better on the first base side. There is also a small popup trailer with shirts, jerseys, and hats for anyone looking to pick up some gear.
Concessions
There are a few concession stands throughout the concourse, as well as at least one separate stand for just beer and seltzer sales. Concessions stand prices are what you expect for a P4 program, and in addition to the classics, they have some lighter options like wraps which is a nice option in the Florida heat.
Access
Located on the outside edge of Orlando, UCF has plenty of access points to get to campus. There is free parking outside the outfield fience, as well as a garage close by that is free parking most of the time. The UCF arena shares this parking garage, though, so keep an eye on events happening as it will make campus busier and could potentially make parking in the garage paid.
Final Thoughts
John Euliano Park was clearly designed with the fan in mind. The seats are spacious, and UCF fans are clearly bought into the program. You may not think baseball when you think Orlando, but even if you find yourself in town for something else (like one of the many theme parks), a trip to UCF to watch the Knights should be on your radar. It also, as a bonus, is definitely cheaper than a day at Disney for the family.
